Hey everyone, the time has come! I’m excited to announce that we’re ready to add to our team and hire an associate wedding photographer.

If you have a fun and enthusiastic personality then we need to talk!

The associate role will involve photographing alongside Shana at some weddings and will progress to shooting solo for Shana Rae May Studios.

Who

is it for?

This is perfectly suited to:
  • A photographer who loves shooting but doesn’t necessarily enjoy the business side of things.
  • A photographer looking to get into weddings.
    (Training in hybrid videotography is included.)
  • Those shooting weddings part-time and not really interested in making it your full time business.
  • A photographer who just wants to shoot and work with great couples – forget all that admin, edits, marketing, ordering and album design stuff.

PERKS OF THE JOB:
  • Make money doing something you love.
  • NO editing. You shoot, the rest is handled in house.
  • NO sales. We take care of all of the marketing and sales.
  • NO extra overhead. We cover advertising and even let you check out equipment.
  • Training in-person to learn Hybrid Videotography.
  • Mentoring. Pick my brain in all things wedding photography.
  • Studio Time. Free use of my Studio and Props.
  • We refer non-wedding inquiries to your brand.

Weddings are not for everyone. The ideal candidate will have a warm personality, flexible schedule, patience, positive attitude, be reliable, be able to think on their feet and have a willingness to work hard.


 

We are primarily looking for experienced LEAD PHOTOGRAPHERS who may also act as second photographers when needed, but are willing to consider Assistants interested in working their way into Associate Shooters.

What I’m Looking For:
  • Experience as professional photographer, wedding preferred but not a must.
  • Submit a current Portfolio.
  • Willingness to learn new things , including hybrid shooting.
  • A friendly, fun and approachable personality.
  • Ability to interact and direct your couples as needed.
  • Someone not afraid to work alone with groomsmen while they are getting ready.
  • Professional gear (Associates: min 2 camera bodies each with dual card slots. Assistants: please inquire.)
  • Experience working with natural light & off camera flash (preferred).
  • Access to own vehicle for business travel.

YOUR ROLE:
  • Availability for Saturdays between May and October.
  • We need and expect prompt response to date inquiries.
  • Pre-wedding consultations with couples (in person or via phone/video chat) that have booked you. It’s important that if you are the primary shooter that you have a prior relationship with them.
  • Pinterest collaboration for couple’s Wedding Inspiration Boards.
  • Photographing weddings/engagements alongside Shana as a second photographer during Interim period or when needed. Paid at second shooter rate.
  • Photographing weddings/engagements as primary shooter for couples that have booked you. Paid at primary shooter rate.

We’re looking to hire photographers who are very confident, friendly and kind to represent the SRM brand. Of course, experience and equipment is important, but we’re willing to train the right right person!


 

We take care of the upfront costs and behind-the-scenes work so that we are able to offer additional dates and a second tier of pricing to inquiring clients while you still get to do what you love!

What you can expect from Us:
  • We take care of a majority of the business-side of the client relationship: lead management, client communications, questionnaires, billing, contracts, etc. Though you will have some contact with the couples outside of the engagement + wedding!
  • We edit all images from the engagement and wedding day.
  • We pay you a flat rate based on package booked (Depending on Experience Level) to book the wedding date, photograph the wedding and deliver all images to us.
  • We pay you a retainer to hold the date and the balance after we receive all of the images of the day.
  • We will build off of your current photography knowledge and train you in our style over time.

All positions with us are paid, including Interns.

AVAILABILITY:

I ask that you’ll be able to commit to covering up to 6 weddings up to 12 months in advance.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

You may already have your own wedding photography business, be looking for something part-time, have just graduated, or are a seasoned pro with some gaps in your schedule. While I’m pretty open-minded, we do have some non-compete principles in place when it comes to our hybrid-style of shooting, use of images post-wedding, and self-promotion while you’re working with our clients.

I’m certainly interested in hearing from experienced photographers; however my main focus is to find someone who is a perfect fit for the team and my couples – I am more than happy to provide training and support for the right person. All positions with us are paid. Assistants begin at $10/hour, Second Shooters $25/hr, and Associates $50/hr. Associates with additional experience with both photography and videography may inquire.

Please bear in mind that work hours are most often on Saturdays and weekends for weddings (some Fridays and Sundays), as well as other various evenings throughout the week for engagement sessions. Naturally, wedding photography is a seasonal business with the bulk of bookings from May through to the end of October, with winter being the slower season.
